I hosted my "Mixing Bowls" cookbook club back in February. I set two tables - one in the dining room and one in the kitchen. I used cookbooks and mixing bowls as part of the centerpieces for both.
I began with a white linen tablecloth...
and I decided to mix things up a little by placing the striped table runner on an angle. I have two of these runners and have used them before. I used this fabric for the back of a baby quilt I made for my cousin's wife, so I bought extra and used it to make table runners for the shower.
But back to my cookbook club...
I got these gold chargers at Dollar Tree back during Christmas. Several of my old gold ones were beginning to show their age. They have these on and off. They're just a $1 each! The gold charger picks up the yellow in the striped table runner.
Next I layered my white everyday dishes. They are "White Satin" by Nikko. I have had these for 18 years, and I still love them. Classic white never goes out of style...
The yellow salad plate is "Toscana Gold" by Pier One. I found eight of these for .50 cents each. I love the distressed and aged look on the edges of these plates.
I found these clear stems for .25 cents each several years ago. They are "Chivalry" by Libbey. I have at least a dozen. I still find one from time to time whenever I am thrifting.
You can see my 75th Anniversary edition of "Joy of Cooking" in the background. Whereas I used four stacked cookbooks in the dining room, this table is a little smaller, so I just went with one here. The red on the cookbook plays well with the napkins as well as the red in the table runner.
Flatware is "Margate" by Pfaltzgraff. The red napkins are from Walmart. I've had them over ten years. I got them when they were drastically marked down after Christmas. I have the matching tablecloth, as well.
Since I used onions on my dining room table, I thought lemons would work well for the kitchen centerpiece. While I set my other table first then picked the centerpiece, I chose the lemons, then looked for yellow accents to go with them.
A small brass votive holder repeats the gold chargers. More camellia stems in a Mason jar rounds it all out.
I love having these ladies in my home! It's so much fun to try all the new and different dishes. I look forward to attending as well as hosting!
I'm so glad you stopped by my neck of the woods!
