Cupcake Carousel Tablescape...Jewell's Sweet 16th Birthday Party

It's been nearly 13 months since I've blogged. Easily my longest vacation ever! But while I haven't shared with you here all that's been going on in Our Neck of the Woods, there's been a lot. Trust me! We had Jewell's 17th birthday party last weekend, and I figured I needed to post her 16th first! So here goes...

Sweet 16 is a natural theme for young girls turning that magical age! I decided to start there and see where it took me. Jewell loves these corals and aquas, so I began with my color scheme. I found this fabric at Hobby Lobby. Although I'm not a huge geometrical print fan, it worked well with all the circles in my design.

I found this precious cupcake carousel at Ross in Prattville. It's copper, but it worked great with the corals.

The cupcake wrappers came from Hobby Lobby. along with the cupcake flags.

I made my famous wedding cake cupcakes with butter cream icing. I had the gold non-pareils in my cake decorating stash.

Here's the centerpiece for the dining room table. I set two tables to accommodate all the girls.

I had picked up a couple of gorgeous fall bouquets at Costco on Wednesday night while I was getting other supplies. The party was on Friday, so I put the flowers in water and placed them in a cool place, out of reach of my cat, Possum. (He is obsessed with cut flowers and will eat them!) When I got them down Friday afternoon to make my arrangements, they looked great, but as soon as I touched them, petals began to fall off, and both bouquets basically disintegrated! (I have had a similar problem another time not long after this, so I no longer buy Costco arrangements.)

I immediately sent Gerald a text at work and sent him looking for flowers. I sent him to Publix and he found the alstroemeria in white and peach. Perfect! I had to set aside my flowers until he got home. I focused on finishing my tables. (You can see the pretty spider lilies and the orange berries that were about all that made it.)

Gold chargers are from Dollar Tree a couple of years ago. The white dishes are my everyday china (20 years old!). The pattern is "White Satin" by Nikko.

The flatware is "Abigail" by Hampton Silversmiths. It came from Target 20 years ago. The gold napkins came from Hobby Lobby.

Here's a final view of the dining room. I found the triangle garland at Hobby Lobby. It was perfect for the fabric color and pattern.

In the kitchen, I used these neat gold and white fans to hang from the light fixture. It just made it more festive!

Since I only had one cupcake carousel, I needed a metal element on the kitchen table. I found the interesting gold spikes at Hobby Lobby. They are meant to hang on the wall. They were unusual and helped to fill the space.

I added some camellia leaves to both arrangements in order to flesh them out. Plus, I just love lots of green in an arrangement. It makes the colors stand out more.

The gold mercury glass hobnail vases came from Hobby Lobby. By the way, I only made one trip to HL before the party, and I just "shopped" what was on sale. I used my 40% off coupon on the fabric. Everything else was 50% off that week!

The amber glasses are vintage Fostoria. The pattern is "Jamestown".

You can see here how all the gold accents came together so well with the fabric!

There's my gorgeous white and gold votive holders that I got at Dollar Tree several years ago. I love these and use them all the time!

A different type of seed pod from the original Costco arrangement.

I didn't have time to drag out my artificial lighting, and I really regret that because this was a beautiful tablescape and the pictures don't really do it justice.

Jewell chose the menu, of course! She is obsessed with Chicken Salad Chick and has recreated their Buffalo Barclay recipe (middle). My cranberry, pineapple, and celery chicken salad recipe is on the left (recipe can be found here, but I left out the pecans this night), and my chicken salad with grape, apples, and pecans is on the right. You can get that recipe here. I served these with crackers and croissants. She actually made the buffalo chicken salad, so I'll have to see if she can write down the recipe for me!

Classic cheese ball with strawberry jam and assorted crackers.

I'll share the recipe for my broccoli salad soon.

You can get the recipe for my party grapes here.

Dessert was cupcakes and a chocolate fountain with lots of goodies for dipping. These paper napkins were part of the line that included the garland and cupcake wrappers and flags.

Jewell ate dinner in the dining room with half of her guests...

while the rest ate in the kitchen.

She swapped tables for dessert so she could enjoy the company of all her guests!

Some had sports events the next morning and had to leave early, but we got a group picture with most of them!

They were such a fun bunch!

I caught Jewell and her two cousins in the kitchen "cleaning up" the chocolate fountain!

It was a wonderful party celebrating our sweet girl!

I'm so glad you stopped by my neck of the woods!
