Thanksgiving 2019...Masculine Magnolia Tablescape

Happy Day-After-Thanksgiving Day! I hope you all had a wonderful day yesterday. We had a houseful of immediate and extended family, and more food than we could eat! It was a beautiful day, and we spent the afternoon and evening outside playing football and listening to music around the fire pit.

I still have not caught up with my blogging over the past year, but I thought I'd start with yesterday and then go back and catch up as I found time. So here goes!

I have decided to call this year's Thanksgiving tablescape "Masculine Magnolia". I love to set a "pretty" table, but that doesn't always mean that it has to be feminine. I thought the browns and golds of this tablesetting would appeal to women and men alike...and it did!

I set two tables this year - the ladies sat in the dining room, and the men sat in the kitchen. I have set a table in the playroom for the kids before, but since they eat so quickly and head outside, I decided it was unnecessary this year. Of course, there's always a big group of men in the living room eating at the coffee table as they watch football!

The centerpiece for the men's table featured these gold ceramic quail. I remember my grandmother had a pair on her coffee table when I was growing up. I'm not sure where they ended up, so when I saw a pair at the thrift store a couple of years ago, I snatched them up. They are usually part of my fall decorating in my living room.

I have several brass candlesticks, and I borrowed the rest from my mother. I scattered them down the center of both tables so they were randomly placed but in descending heights. I picked up the candles from Dollar Tree. No need to buy expensive ones.

If you look closely, you can see an old wooden plank underneath. My neighbor, Chuck, cut these for me a few years ago from boards he was salvaging from the old barn he was pulling down. Part of the barn is still standing, and I love to look out and see it and know I have a piece of it. Even though they're not really seen in this setting, I like the height they give, and I just enjoy knowing they are there.

Here's the placesetting for the men. I got the chargers from Dollar Tree a few years ago, but I saw the other day that they have them again this year. Next is my dinner plate - "Friendly Village" by Johnson Brothers. I use these every year. You can read the post about how I got these for a song by clicking the link above. The flatware is "Abigail" by Hampton Silversmiths. I made the napkins years ago from a super soft muslin. They work perfectly with just about everything.

The turkey salad plates are new this year. I got them on clearance from AVON! I'm a rep, so with my discount, they came out to be about $1.50 each. Unfortunately, they're sold out now.

I love these beautiful vintage stems. They are a gorgeous amber color that worked so well with all my gold and brass pieces. The pattern is "Jamestown" (how appropriate is that?!) by Fostoria.

I had Gerald pick the magnolia leaves the day before. My mother has a couple of old trees - probably at least 50 or so years old. I had him fill a five gallon paint bucket so I could pick and choose.

My dining room table is a little longer since I have the leaf in it. I added a couple more candles in this centerpiece.

The flatware I used in the dining room is much more feminine. It's "Golden American Chippendale" by FB Rogers.

This beautiful turkey came from Hobby Lobby last year, I think. It looks so expensive, but it's actually a lightweight resin. Pretty sure I got it 80% off, too.

The one good thing about Thanksgiving coming so late this year is that Hobby Lobby had already reduced their Fall merchandise to 80% off. I got the acorns and raffia pumpkins for $2 a bag!

I used my 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby for the brown plaid fabric. I bought 4 yards and then cut it down the middle on the fold to make two runners. I even had a couple of squares left over that would work great on a side table. I didn't even take time to hem them. I just pressed a 1/2" under along the sides.

I love this view with the candles lit! We had a wonderful day enjoying each other's company, the wonderful food, and the gorgeous weather outside. I am truly grateful for all my family and love hosting them all for Thanksgiving. Several of them stated yesterday that Thanksgiving is their favorite holiday. I may just have to agree!

I'm so glad you stopped by my neck of the woods!
