One of the many hats I wear is assistant coach of the Ezekiel Academy cheerleading squad. I hosted these sweet girls and their awesome mothers last Saturday. We had a pancakes and pajamas themed breaskfast. I went very traditional in my tablesettings. I was in Joann's a couple of weeks ago and found these precious bottlebrush woodland animals for 70% off! They were perfect for my tables. Next year they'll probably be seen on top of my china cabinet or on my fireplace!
My kitchen table.
Here's a precious little reindeer. He's the largest of the animals I got. His saddle of baby pine cones is so sweet and festive!
I already owned the cotton trees. I wrapped them in fairy lights and hid the power supply under the greenery. The little hedgehog is made of bottlebrush and baby pine cones. I love adding lots of different heights in my table settings. And I don't want there to necessarily be a front or back, so I put something on both sides for people to see. Fairy lights make everything more festive!
I was preparing for 20, so I had to borrow a few dinner plates from my mother. Her Christmas tree dishes are by a company called "Mount Clemens Pottery". She got them from the grocery store over 30 years ago! She usually has her dining room table set with these during the holiday, but she's changed that up a little this year. I'll show you that soon. I used contrasting napkins and green stemware on this table. The stems are "Sweet Swirl" by Noritake. We got them when we married. The flatware is "Abigail" by Wallace Silversmiths. It came from Target years ago. The chargers are from Dollar Tree.
I got the tablecloths years ago from Walmart when everything was at least 75% off after Christmas. Same for the napkins. I'm always collecting linens and napkins when I find a good deal! Since I usually set 2-3 tables, I always need more. I mix the napkins and tablecloths. 1) I just like the way it looks, and 2) I don't always have enough napkins to match the tablecloth I'm using.
My dining room table.
This squirrel just may be my favorite! He's so festive in his little scarf and cap! You can also see a bedding deer on the other side of the arrangement. She's settled in waiting for Santa to arrive, I'm sure!
I love these candlesticks. I got them at Caffco years ago for a song. They carry Christmas items just about year round, but be sure to shop them right after Christmas for some deep discounts.
I used my Christmas dishes (OK, one set of them!) in the dining room. The pattern is called "Happy Holidays" by Nikko. Its part of the "Blossom Time" line which has the same basic white swirl pattern, but has different things added to it as an accent. So these work perfectly with my everyday dishes by Nikko called "White Satin". I used my gold flatware called "Golden American Chippendale" by FB Rogers. I made these green napkins years ago when I needed them for St. Patrick's Day, I think. I have a bunch.
I loveeeee my red stemware. I had wanted it for years, but they were ridiculously expensive. I found this set on eBay a few years ago. I paid a little more than I wanted, and they're water glasses and not deep tea glasses like I prefer, but I'm very proud of them! The pattern is "Perspective" by Noritake.
This sweet little table was set in my foyer. It's as antique drop-leaf table on casters, so I was able to push it out of the way until everyone arrived, and we needed it. (It also lowers to coffee table height. It's usually used as a sofa table in our playroom.) We had a mother and daughter who couldn't make it at the last minute, so we didn't use it after all. We just sat another person at the end of the kitchen and dining room tables. But it was so pretty that I wanted you to see it!
This table runner is actually a doormat I found for $1 at Big Lots after Christmas several years ago. I picked up several, and I use them as table runners. I even have one on my end table right now under my lamp and books.
All of the centerpieces feature artificial greenery picked up from Hobby Lobby at 50% off. The last couple of years, I have focused my seasonal decorating more on Winter than Christmas. I want to leave it up longer, so this allows me to keep much of it up through early February.
Here are the sweet girls! Such a varied group, but they make a wonderful team!
We played several fun games, including the one with the plastic-wrapped gift ball and gloves. It's always their favorite!
They are all crazy about socks, so we always have a sock swap using a "left-right" Christmas story.
Here they are with their new socks! These are the most precious young ladies. I am honored to work with them. I love each and every one of them. Merry Christmas from the Ezekiel Cheer Squad!
I'm so glad you stopped by my neck of the woods!
