I am so ready for Spring! However, I still have a couple of Winter-themed tables to share with you. Here's one that is perfect for this cold, blustery Saturday. I am blessed with the best friends. And what's even greater, the daughters of my dearest friends are Jewell's closest friends! Our group of twelve has enjoyed getting together for the last several years. This luncheon happened back in January of 2021. Christmas was over, and I had begun to transition my decorations to more of a Winter theme.
I set two tables - one for the moms and one for the girls. I'll probably bounce back and forth some in the pictures. I used the same theme for both tables, just switching it up a little by reversing some colors. You'll see. This is the centerpiece in the dining room where the mothers sat. I started with my antique barn wood runner, and added a couple of black lanterns. You've seen my flocked pinecones a good bit lately. You can see how to make your own here.
I have acquired quite a collection of artificial greenery. I try to buy it when it's half off at Hobby Lobby. While we have hundreds of pine trees on our land, these artificial pine branches stay pretty and green and are a lot less messy. I cover the wire ends with the pinecones.
You can see my table covering layers here. White tablecloth on bottom, of course. Next I used a red and ecru gingham check cloth topper. Finally, I laid a burlap runner down the middle.
I made these napkins years ago from inexpensive muslin. I think I made them for Thanksgiving. I use these napkins more than any other. They go with everything! My flatware is "Austen" by Yamasaki. This is the everyday flatware I registered for when we got engaged. I still love it. Choose well, and it will last a lifetime!
An aerial view of the centerpiece. I love to see red birds in my yard in the Winter. I've heard that they mean that company is coming, or that they are the spirit of a loved one who's passed on. Either way, they make me happy. I have some beautiful artificial ones that I tuck in all my Christmas trees. I attached one in each of the two centerpieces to watch over us. I'm looking at this picture now and think that there's a lot of unused real estate down the middle. I realized that I forgot to add coffee cups and saucers!
The holly picks came from Hobby Lobby during Christmas several years ago, but they carry them each year.
Here's a wider view. I still had our Christmas stockings hanging on the chairs. In fact, I still had quite a bit of my Winter-themed decorations still up. I had taken down (most of!) the Santa Clauses. (I saw at least one in a picture in this post. Can you find it?)
I love to find pinecones with the sticks still attached. It adds to the authenticity! I use my wicker balls from Dollar Tree all the time. They always complement an organic tablescape.
I've been collecting these salad plates over the years. They are by Better Homes and Gardens, and I find them at Walmart around 75% off after Christmas. I think I've gotten most of them for about $1.25. I have several bucks, some does (which you'll see in other pictures), and a few bunnies. I'd love to have more of them! The red plates came from Dollar Tree. They carry the red dishes each Christmas season.
The girls sat at the kitchen table. Their tablescape is very similar, except their lanterns are red and the dinner plates are black. The black plates also came from Dollar Tree.
The stemware on both tables is "Sweet Swirl" by Noritake in dark green. I got this when we married.
I used a red and tan checked table topper on this table. The flatware is "Margate" by Pfaltzgraff. This is the pattern my mother bought for me when I got my first apartment over thirty years ago.
These classic red camping lanterns look great during the holidays, but I first purchased them for Brack's 12th birthday party. You can see that here.
I tucked in a few holly and cotton Christmas picks I found at Dollar Tree! The white really pops.
You know I love to scatter candles. These small tealight holders came from Walmart over twenty years ago. I have them in gold, red, and white.
The wood grain chargers came from Dollar Tree.
A wider view of the girls' table.
I forgot to add kerosene to the lanterns, so we relied on the candles instead. They were still so pretty!
Since I only have eight red and eight black plates, reversing them on the two tables makes the tablescapes appear to be the same. I did the same thing with the lanterns and the table toppers under the burlap runners.
Shot from above of the girls' table.
We had a wonderful time together, as usual!
I'm so glad you stopped by my neck of the woods!
