I had purchased a few bags of baby pumpkins and gourds for Jewell's 17th birthday party tablescape and wanted to get my money's worth, so I transitioned to this fall tablescape. I set the table the day after her party and just left it until I was ready for Thanksgiving.
I started with my "tablecloth" which is actually a muslin painter's drop cloth! Then I added my burlap runner. I made this several years ago by cutting the burlap in half lengthwise. Then I finished the edges by straight-stitching down the side - about an half inch in and then pulled out the loose threads. The stitching keeps it from continuing to unravel. Then I dug through my stash to find complementary colors for the gourds.
I love to stack dishes, even if we're not going to use each one. Remember, this tablesetting was for looks only. I started with my Better Homes and Gardens pine cone and wood-look chargers. Next I layered the yellow plates. They're BH&G, too, but I got them at the thrift store. $1 each instead of $5! (Most of the time, thrift store will have an odd number of things - maybe five, or so. People donate because they break a few and then just ditch them. As long as I can get four of something, I'll snatch them up!) Next is the salad plate. These are my everyday dishes from when we married. They're "White Satin" by Nikko. Finally, a sweet little berry bowl sits on top. I don't know the pattern or maker. They were .25 cents at the thrift store.
I found the napkins years ago at a mill store in North Carolina. I have several colors. The flatware is "Abigail" by Wallace Silversmiths.
I have a love affair with stems, so that's what I usually go to, but this setting was a little more masculine, so I pulled out my tumblers. These are "Sweet Swirl" by Noritake. Wedding gifts.
I used one of my antique wood boards from the barn across the road. I placed the gourds down the middle. The sign came from Ross last year. Really cheap.
These cute little mason jar lanterns came from Michael's. Half off, of course. I buy my tealights at Dollar Tree.
This tablescape is so organic with the veggies, wood, and burlap. I loved walking by and seeing it set. It just made me happy!
If you have a table you don't use a lot, consider setting it and leaving it up. It makes your house look like a magazine shoot waiting to happen!
Thanks for indulging me as I catch up on all my old posts. I'm trying to blog about three times a week, when I can! Our neck of the woods stays so busy!
I'm so glad you stopped by my neck of the woods!
